Aloha Geckos! I’m back! ๐๐ฆ
Because apparently, the grift never sleeps… ๐๏ธ
Thereโs a new scam slithering into inboxesโand itโs dressed to impress. ๐ This one isnโt your usual โHello Dear Beneficiaryโ disaster. No, this scam came tailored, fluffed, and flatteredโฆ and it even knew my cosplay brand name.
โ ๏ธ Heads upโthereโs a new scam making the rounds, and itโs targeting people under the guise of an “exclusive invite” to a Call Her Daddy live broadcast.
I just got one, and Iโll admit itโthis one made me blink twice. It was eerily convincing, oddly flattering, and weirdly professional. ๐งโ๐ซ
So Iโm breaking it down here so nobody else gets bamboozled.

๐จ Hereโs the Scam Email That Slid Into My Inbox – Having, as the kids say, “Main Character Energy:”

๐ง Why This One Made Me Think Twice
Iโve seen enough scam emails in my life to wallpaper a friggen house ๐ with them. Most are full of typos, random capitalization, and vibes that scream โNigerian Prince Energy.๐ซ โ But this one?
โ
Well-written
โ
Specific to my brand
โ
Used actual things I talk about (hello, โCositivityโ!)
โ
Offered a big paycheck ($4k?? Sir, I ain’t famous.)
โ
Name-dropped Spotify and Alex Cooper for that influencer sparkle โจ
They didnโt just guess. They clearly skimmed my website or social bios and handpicked juicy details to make this scam feel tailored. They speifically touched on my Cositivity section here on this website!
๐ค AI-Powered and Extra Bold
Letโs talk tech:
These scammers arenโt writing this stuff, theyโre using AI tools to generate believable, polished emails with scary accuracy.
These scams now come with:
- ๐ป AI-generated copy that sounds real
- ๐ง Personalized details from your public pages
- ๐ชค A tone that flatters your ego juuuust enough to make you click
๐ Turns out, the real con isnโt at the conventionโitโs in your inbox ๐, and itโs powered by AI ๐ค.
๐ก๏ธ How to Armor Up (Without Needing +5 Wisdom)
Hereโs how to protect your creative butt from this nonsense:
- 1๏ธโฃ Don’t let flattery fog your brain
Yes, youโre amazing. No, that doesnโt mean a random Gmail account is offering you $4,000 to talk about cosplay and trauma on Zoom. - 2๏ธโฃ Check the senderโs email
Spoiler: Spotify is not emailing you from a Gmail address that sounds like a fake Hollywood manager. - 3๏ธโฃ Search before you scream
Google a few lines of the email. Thatโs how I found Candy Keane from Geek Mamas, who documented the exact same scam. Itโs like a cosplay con buddy warning you before you glue your fingers together. - 4๏ธโฃ Trust your gut. Then trust your Google.
Something feel off? Donโt click anything. Donโt reply. Ask a friend. Ask the internet. Ask your cat. ๐ - 5๏ธโฃ Keep your personal info on lock
No ID, no contracts, no banking infoโunless you’ve verified the heck out of it.
๐งพ And FinallyโLetโs Talk About What I Found
Whenever I get an email that feels a little โจ too โจ good to be true, I do my homework. And this time? I found a fantastic blog post by Candy Keane from Geek Mamas that called out this exact scam, word-for-word. She also took it way farther than I did!
๐ Read her full post here:
Iโm sharing it now in hopes of raising awarenessโbecause if it hasnโt hit your inbox yet, it very well might.
๐งต TL;DR: Scammers Got Smart, But Weโre Smarter
- Theyโre using AI ๐ง
- Theyโre pretending to be brands we know ๐ค
- Theyโre studying your content and getting creepily specific ๐
- And theyโre hoping your excitement will outweigh your skepticism ๐ธ
Donโt fall for it. Protect your brand. And always check twice before you hit reply.
๐ฌ Seen This Scam? Letโs Warn Each Other
If youโve seen thisโor anything like itโdrop a comment, tag a friend, or share this post. The cosplay and creator communities deserve better than digital catfish in podcast form.
Stay fierce, stay safe, and stay skeptical out there. ๐ก๏ธโจ๐ฆ
